* Bore size is determined by the size of the piston and the amount of clearance needed for the type of piston used.
Cylinders exceeding the clearances of the maximum over size piston for that piston may be re sleeved. When considering re sleeving factors that should weigh on your decision are condition of the cylinder - fins, surfaces etc. Is the cylinder oem and out of production. Availability of the resources skills and equipment to do the job.
A 74 cubic inch cylinder with a .060" over bore can be used in an 80 cubic inch motor.
